My kinsmen have failed me; my friends ¹  have forgotten me. ² 

My enemies ask this cruel question about me, ¹  ‘When will he finally die and be forgotten?’ ² 

Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has his anger stifled his compassion?”

“Zion said, ‘The Lord has abandoned me, the sovereign master ¹  has forgotten me.’

I will bring on you lasting shame and lasting disgrace which will never be forgotten!’”

I ¹  am deprived ²  of peace; ³  I have forgotten what happiness ⁴  is.

You have forgotten ¹  the Rock who fathered you, and put out of mind the God who gave you birth.

I am forgotten, like a dead man no one thinks about; ¹  I am regarded as worthless, like a broken jar. ² 

May his ancestors’ ¹  sins be remembered by the Lord! May his mother’s sin not be forgotten! ² 

But seven years of famine will occur ¹  after them, and all the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will devastate ²  the land.

Far from where people live ¹  he sinks a shaft, in places travelers have long forgotten, ²  far from other people he dangles and sways. ³ 

“Take the harp, go through the city, forgotten prostitute! Play it well, play lots of songs, so you’ll be noticed!” ¹ 

This is your fate, the destiny to which I have appointed you, because you have forgotten me and have trusted in false gods.

For the wise man, like ¹  the fool, will not be remembered for very long, ²  because ³  in the days to come, both will already have been forgotten. ⁴  Alas, ⁵  the wise man dies – just like ⁶  the fool!

At that time ¹  Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, ²  the typical life span of a king. ³  At the end of seventy years Tyre will try to attract attention again, like the prostitute in the popular song: ⁴ 

Does a young woman forget to put on her jewels? Does a bride forget to put on her bridal attire? But my people have forgotten me for more days than can even be counted.

“A noise is heard on the hilltops. It is the sound of the people of Israel crying and pleading to their gods. Indeed they have followed sinful ways; ¹  they have forgotten to be true to the Lord their God. ² 

Have you forgotten all the wicked things that have been done in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem by your ancestors, by the kings of Judah and their ¹  wives, by you and your wives?

They will ask the way to Zion; they will turn their faces toward it. They will come ¹  and bind themselves to the Lord in a lasting covenant that will never be forgotten. ² 

“My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds ¹  have allow them to go astray. They have wandered around in the mountains. They have roamed from one mountain and hill to another. ²  They have forgotten their resting place.
