He ¹  leads ²  counselors away stripped ³  and makes judges ⁴  into fools. ⁵ 

This is the destiny of fools, ¹  and of those who approve of their philosophy. ²  (Selah)

Rise up, O God! Defend your honor! ¹  Remember how fools insult you all day long! ² 

Take notice of this, ¹  you ignorant people! ²  You fools, when will you ever understand?

They acted like fools in their rebellious ways, ¹  and suffered because of their sins.

Fearing the Lord ¹  is the beginning ²  of moral knowledge, ³  but ⁴  fools ⁵  despise ⁶  wisdom and instruction. ⁷ 

The wise inherit honor, but he holds fools up ¹  to public contempt. ² 

You who are naive, discern ¹  wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment! ² 

The teaching ¹  of the righteous feeds ²  many, but fools die ³  for lack of wisdom. ⁴ 

A fool’s annoyance ¹  is known at once, ²  but the prudent ³  overlooks ⁴  an insult.

A desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools abhor ¹  turning away from evil.

The one who associates ¹  with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. ² 

Fools mock ¹  at reparation, ²  but among the upright there is favor. ³ 

The crown of the wise is their riches, ¹  but the folly ²  of fools is folly.

The lips of the wise spread ¹  knowledge, but not so the heart of fools. ² 

The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly. ¹ 

Judgments ¹  are prepared for scorners, and floggings for the backs of fools.

Do not let yourself be quickly provoked, ¹  for anger resides in the lap ²  of fools.

Fools ¹  are placed in many positions of authority, ²  while wealthy men sit in lowly positions.

Deliver me from all my sins of rebellion! Do not make me the object of fools’ insults!
