Peter ¹  said to him, “If they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away!”

Peter said to him, “Even if they all fall away, I will not!”

So ¹  he said to them, “I saw ²  Satan fall ³  like lightning ⁴  from heaven.

“I have told you all these things so that you will not fall away. ¹ 

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

So let the one who thinks he is standing be careful that he does not fall.

It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

“Yes, Lord,” she replied, ¹  “but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

When he came to the place, ¹  he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” ² 

So ¹  he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation!” ² 

Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ¹  ‘Fall on us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’ ² 

My brothers and sisters, ¹  consider it nothing but joy ²  when you fall into all sorts of trials,

Leave them! They are blind guides. ¹  If someone who is blind leads another who is blind, ²  both will fall into a pit.”

But ¹  they have no root in themselves and do not endure. ²  Then, when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately they fall away.

Then ¹  Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ ² 

He also told them a parable: “Someone who is blind cannot lead another who is blind, can he? ¹  Won’t they both fall ²  into a pit?

He must not be a recent convert or he may become arrogant ¹  and fall into the punishment that the devil will exact. ² 

Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.
