Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, ¹  “Rabbi, eat something.” ² 

But he ¹  replied, “They don’t need to go. You ²  give them something to eat.”

and he begins to beat his fellow slaves and to eat and drink with drunkards,

Now ¹  Jesus ²  went home, and a crowd gathered so that they were not able to eat.

Whenever ¹  you enter a town ²  and the people ³  welcome you, eat what is set before you.

Bring ¹  the fattened calf ²  and kill it! Let us eat ³  and celebrate,

Jesus ¹  sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover ²  for us to eat.” ³ 

But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”

Then ¹  a voice said ²  to him, “Get up, Peter; slaughter ³  and eat!”

I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter; slaughter ¹  and eat!’

Eat anything that is sold in the marketplace without questions of conscience,

So then, my brothers and sisters, ¹  when you come together to eat, wait for one another.

But he answered them, ¹  “You ²  give them something to eat.” And they said, “Should we go and buy bread for two hundred silver coins ³  and give it to them to eat?”

Won’t ¹  the master ²  instead say to him, ‘Get my dinner ready, and make yourself ready ³  to serve me while ⁴  I eat and drink. Then ⁵  you may eat and drink’?

But you who eat vegetables only – why do you judge your brother or sister? ¹  And you who eat everything – why do you despise your brother or sister? ²  For we will all stand before the judgment seat ³  of God.

When the Pharisees ¹  saw this they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” ² 

“Yes, Lord,” she replied, ¹  “but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

He strictly ordered that no one should know about this, ¹  and told them to give her something to eat.

She answered, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”

He said to it, ¹  “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. ²
