ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell,

and ears, but cannot hear. Indeed, they cannot breathe. ¹ 

Then blind eyes will open, deaf ears will hear.

“Indeed, my eyes have seen all this, ²  my ears have heard and understood it.

Listen carefully ¹  to my words; let your ears be attentive to my explanation. ² 

Terrifying sounds fill ¹  his ears; in a time of peace marauders ²  attack him.

Apply ¹  your heart to instruction and your ears to the words of knowledge.

Eyes ¹  will no longer be blind ²  and ears ³  will be attentive.

You heard ¹  my plea: ²  “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief!” ³ 

Make the hearts of these people calloused; make their ears deaf and their eyes blind! Otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, their hearts might understand and they might repent and be healed.” ¹ 

So all ¹  the people broke off the gold earrings that were on their ears and brought them to Aaron.

But to this very day the Lord has not given you an understanding mind, perceptive eyes, or discerning ears! ¹ 

Destruction ¹  and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a rumor about where it can be found.’ ² 

Do not speak in the ears of a fool, ¹  for he will despise the wisdom of your words. ² 

You see ¹  many things, but don’t comprehend; ²  their ears are open, but do not hear.”

I put a ring in your nose, earrings on your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head.

“But they refused to pay attention, turning away stubbornly and stopping their ears so they could not hear.

So Aaron said to them, “Break off the gold earrings that are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” ¹ 

Make sure you pull out ¹  ears of grain for her and drop them so she can gather them up. Don’t tell her not to!” ² 

The Lord said to Samuel, “Look! I am about to do something in Israel; ¹  when anyone hears about it, both of his ears will tingle.
