O my God, make them like dead thistles, ¹  like dead weeds blown away by ²  the wind!

Eighteen thousand Benjaminites, all of them capable warriors, fell dead.

The filthy, ¹  stained city is as good as dead; the city filled with oppressors is finished! ²

The other woman said, “No! My son is alive; your son is dead!” But the first woman replied, “No, your son is dead; my son is alive.” Each presented her case before the king. ¹
