If ¹  I say, ²  “My bed will comfort me, ³  my couch will ease ⁴  my complaint,”

You are destructive ¹  like water and will not excel, ²  for you got on your father’s bed, ³  then you defiled it – he got on my couch! ⁴ 

Look! It is Solomon’s portable couch! ¹  It is surrounded by sixty warriors, some of Israel’s mightiest warriors.

You sat on a magnificent couch, with a table arranged in front of it where you placed my incense and my olive oil.

When the king returned from the palace garden to the banquet of wine, Haman was throwing himself down ¹  on the couch where Esther was lying. ²  The king exclaimed, “Will he also attempt to rape the queen while I am still in the building!” As these words left the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.

This is what the Lord says: “Just as a shepherd salvages from the lion’s mouth a couple of leg bones or a piece of an ear, so the Israelites who live in Samaria will be salvaged. ¹  They will be left with just a corner of a bed, ²  and a part ³  of a couch.”
