For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.

So there was ¹  great joy ²  in that city.

The city’s ¹  wall is made ²  of jasper and the city is pure gold, like transparent glass. ³ 

and from there to Philippi, ¹  which is a leading city of that district ²  of Macedonia, ³  a Roman colony. ⁴  We stayed in this city for some days.

You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden.

As he entered Jerusalem the whole city was thrown into an uproar, ¹  saying, “Who is this?”

And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.

Now early in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.

They caused confusion among ¹  the crowd and the city officials ²  who heard these things.

After ¹  the city officials ²  had received bail ³  from Jason and the others, they released them.

The priest of the temple ¹  of Zeus, ²  located just outside the city, brought bulls ³  and garlands ⁴  to the city gates; he and the crowds wanted to offer sacrifices to them. ⁵ 

They will stand a long way off because they are afraid of her torment, and will say, “Woe, woe, O great city, Babylon the powerful city! For in a single hour your doom ¹  has come!”

Now ¹  the city is laid out as a square, ²  its length and width the same. He ³  measured the city with the measuring rod ⁴  at fourteen hundred miles ⁵  (its length and width and height are equal).

Then the devil took him to the holy city, ¹  had him stand ²  on the highest point ³  of the temple,
