The Lord reigns! Let the earth be happy! Let the many coastlands rejoice!

Now the coastlands will tremble on the day of your fall; the coastlands by the sea will be terrified by your passing.’ ¹ 

The kings of Tarshish ¹  and the coastlands will offer gifts; the kings of Sheba ²  and Seba ³  will bring tribute.

All the inhabitants of the coastlands are shocked at you, and their kings are horribly afraid – their faces are troubled.

Look, the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales. He lifts ¹  the coastlands ²  as if they were dust.

So in the east ¹  extol the Lord, along the seacoasts extol ²  the fame ³  of the Lord God of Israel.

all the kings of Tyre, ¹  all the kings of Sidon; ²  all the kings of the coastlands along the sea; ³ 

Hear what the Lord has to say, O nations. Proclaim it in the faraway lands along the sea. Say, “The one who scattered Israel will regather them. He will watch over his people like a shepherd watches over his flock.”

Travel to Tarshish! Wail, you residents of the coast!

From these the coastlands of the nations were separated into their lands, every one according to its language, according to their families, by their nations.

The coastlands ¹  see and are afraid; the whole earth ²  trembles; they approach and come.

At that time ¹  those who live on this coast ²  will say, ‘Look what has happened to our source of hope to whom we fled for help, expecting to be rescued from the king of Assyria! How can we escape now?’”

Listen to me, you coastlands! ¹  Pay attention, you people who live far away! The Lord summoned me from birth; ²  he commissioned me when my mother brought me into the world. ³ 

The Lord will terrify them, ¹  for ²  he will weaken ³  all the gods of the earth. All the distant nations will worship the Lord in their own lands. ⁴
