What the gazam-locust left the ‘arbeh-locust consumed, ¹  what the ‘arbeh-locust left the yeleq-locust consumed, and what the yeleq-locust left the hasil-locust consumed! ² 

From there it spots ¹  its prey, ²  its eyes gaze intently from a distance.

They willfully challenged God ¹  by asking for food to satisfy their appetite.

They should gather all the excess food ¹  during these good years that are coming. By Pharaoh’s authority ²  they should store up grain so the cities will have food, ³  and they should preserve it. ⁴ 

Certainly if the army had eaten some of the enemies’ provisions that they came across today, would not the slaughter of the Philistines have been even greater?”

But they exclaimed, ¹  “No, my lord! Your servants have come to buy grain for food!

They said, “My lord, we did indeed come down ¹  the first time ²  to buy food.

“Then our father said, ‘Go back and buy us a little food.’

They glide by ¹  like reed ²  boats, like an eagle that swoops ³  down on its prey. ⁴ 

Does not the ear test words, as ¹  the tongue ²  tastes food? ³ 

And another man ¹  dies in bitterness of soul, ²  never having tasted ³  anything good.

If I ate my morsel of bread myself, and did not share any of it with orphans ¹  –

It is by these that he judges ¹  the nations and supplies food in abundance.

Man ate the food of the mighty ones. ¹  He sent them more than enough to eat. ² 

For they have devoured Jacob and destroyed his home.

They traded their majestic God ¹  for the image of an ox that eats grass.

They lost their appetite for all food, ¹  and they drew near the gates of death.

There is abundant food in the field ¹  of the poor, but it is swept away by injustice. ² 

The righteous has enough food to satisfy his appetite, ¹  but the belly of the wicked lacks food. ² 

When you find ¹  honey, eat only what is sufficient for you, lest you become stuffed ²  with it and vomit it up. ³
