Wisdom is supreme ¹  – so ²  acquire wisdom, and whatever you acquire, ³  acquire understanding! ⁴ 

Is not wisdom found among the aged? ¹  Does not long life bring understanding?

“With God ¹  are wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. ² 

Do you listen in on God’s secret council? ¹  Do you limit ²  wisdom to yourself?

To ¹  learn ²  wisdom ³  and moral instruction, ⁴  and to discern ⁵  wise counsel. ⁶ 

I will guide you ¹  in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths. ² 

Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?

I have not learned wisdom, nor do I have knowledge ¹  of the Holy One. ² 

“Without a doubt you are the people, ¹  and wisdom will die with you. ² 

How you have advised the one without wisdom, and abundantly ¹  revealed your insight!

Of coral and jasper no mention will be made; the price ¹  of wisdom is more than pearls. ² 

I said to myself, ‘Age ¹  should speak, ²  and length of years ³  should make wisdom known.’

So do not say, ¹  ‘We have found wisdom! God will refute ²  him, not man!’

If not, you listen to me; be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.”

For God deprived her of wisdom, and did not impart understanding to her.

The godly speak wise words and promote justice. ¹ 

Look, ¹  you desire ²  integrity in the inner man; ³  you want me to possess wisdom. ⁴ 

So teach us to consider our mortality, ¹  so that we might live wisely. ² 

Fearing the Lord ¹  is the beginning ²  of moral knowledge, ³  but ⁴  fools ⁵  despise ⁶  wisdom and instruction. ⁷ 

For ¹  the Lord gives ²  wisdom, and from his mouth ³  comes ⁴  knowledge and understanding.
