And so Job died, old and full of days.

So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, ¹  “After I am worn out will I have pleasure, ²  especially when my husband is old too?” ³ 

Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years, ¹  and the Lord had blessed him ²  in everything.

Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man who had lived a full life. ¹  He joined his ancestors. ² 

You must stand up in the presence of the aged, honor the presence of an elder, and fear your God. I am the Lord.

In his old age Samuel appointed his sons as judges over Israel.

King David was very old; ¹  even when they covered him with blankets, ²  he could not get warm.

So he asked Gehazi, ¹  “What can I do for her?” Gehazi replied, “She has no son, and her husband is old.”

We said to my lord, ‘We have an aged father, and there is a young boy who was born when our father was old. ¹  The boy’s ²  brother is dead. He is the only one of his mother’s sons left, ³  and his father loves him.’

They annihilated with the sword everything that breathed in the city, ¹  including men and women, young and old, as well as cattle, sheep, and donkeys.

When Joshua was very old, ¹  the Lord told him, “You are very old, and a great deal of land remains to be conquered.
