Then you will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and raise you from your graves, my people.

My spirit is broken, ¹  my days have faded out, ²  the grave ³  awaits me.

And when he is carried to the tombs, and watch is kept ¹  over the funeral mound, ² 

Is your loyal love proclaimed in the grave, or your faithfulness in the place of the dead? ¹ 

All of its soldiers are strong and mighty. ¹  Their arrows will send you to your grave. ²

So Abraham secured the field and the cave that was in it as a burial site ¹  from the sons of Heth.

For ¹  they do not speak the truth; ²  their stomachs are like the place of destruction, ³  their throats like an open grave, ⁴  their tongues like a steep slope leading into it. ⁵ 

They sit among the tombs ¹  and keep watch all night long. ²  They eat pork, ³  and broth ⁴  from unclean sacrificial meat is in their pans.

For he did not kill me before I came from the womb, making my pregnant mother’s womb my grave forever. ¹

This fulfilled the Lord’s announcement made by the prophet while Jeroboam stood by the altar during a festival. King Josiah ²  turned and saw the grave of the prophet who had foretold this. ³ 

Therefore prophesy, and tell them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I am about to open your graves and will raise you from your graves, my people. I will bring you to the land of Israel.

if he will sell ¹  me the cave of Machpelah that belongs to him; it is at the end of his field. Let him sell it to me publicly ²  for the full price, ³  so that I may own it as a burial site.”
