The ropes of Sheol ¹  tightened around me; ²  the snares of death trapped me. ³ 

After Ahab died, Moab rebelled against Israel. ¹ 

to ¹  those who wait ²  for death that ³  does not come, and search for it ⁴  more than for hidden treasures,

In time of famine ¹  he will redeem you from death, and in time of war from the power of the sword. ² 

so that I ¹  would prefer ²  strangling, ³  and ⁴  death ⁵  more ⁶  than life. ⁷ 

Those who survive him are buried by the plague, ¹  and their ²  widows do not mourn for them.

Destruction ¹  and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a rumor about where it can be found.’ ² 

by saving their lives from death ¹  and sustaining them during times of famine. ² 

For they suffer no pain; ¹  their bodies ²  are strong and well-fed. ³ 

The Lord values the lives of his faithful followers. ¹ 

The Lord severely ¹  punished me, but he did not hand me over to death.

Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. ¹ 

True ¹  righteousness leads to ²  life, but the one who pursues evil pursues it ³  to his own death. ⁴ 

The wicked will be thrown down in his trouble, ¹  but the righteous have refuge ²  even in the threat of death. ³ 

Like a madman ¹  who shoots firebrands and deadly arrows, ² 

because the slayer ¹  should have stayed in his town of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest, the slayer may return to the land of his possessions.

He will come and attack Egypt. Those who are destined to die of disease will die of disease. Those who are destined to be carried off into exile will be carried off into exile. Those who are destined to die in war will die in war. ¹ 

Will I deliver them from the power of Sheol? No, I will not! ¹  Will I redeem them from death? No, I will not! O Death, bring on your plagues! ²  O Sheol, bring on your destruction! ³  My eyes will not show any compassion! ⁴ 

Isaac ¹  said, “Since ²  I am so old, I could die at any time. ³ 

Then you will take ¹  it to your father. Thus he will eat it ²  and ³  bless you before he dies.”
