The waves of death engulfed me; the currents ¹  of chaos ²  overwhelmed me. ³ 

He will not look on the streams, ¹  the rivers, which are the torrents ²  of honey and butter. ³ 

From there they traveled to Gudgodah, ¹  and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, ²  a place of flowing streams.

For the Lord your God is bringing you to a good land, a land of brooks, ¹  springs, and fountains flowing forth in valleys and hills,

Will the Lord accept a thousand rams, or ten thousand streams of olive oil? Should I give him my firstborn child as payment for my rebellion, my offspring – my own flesh and blood – for my sin? ¹ 

They will come back shedding tears of contrition. I will bring them back praying prayers of repentance. ¹  I will lead them besides streams of water, along smooth paths where they will never stumble. ²  I will do this because I am Israel’s father; Ephraim ³  is my firstborn son.’”
