But they ¹  pay no attention; instead they observe their earlier practices.

You must not do like we are doing here today, with everyone ¹  doing what seems best to him,

Do not audit the foremen who disburse the silver, for they are honest.” ¹ 

So we worked on, ¹  with half ²  holding spears, from dawn till dusk. ³ 

Feasts ¹  are made ²  for laughter, and wine makes life merry, ³  but money is the answer ⁴  for everything.

Do you see ¹  what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? ² 

He said to me, “Go in and see the evil abominations they are practicing here.”

He said to me, “You will see them practicing even greater abominations!”

To this very day they observe their earlier practices. They do not worship ¹  the Lord; they do not obey the rules, regulations, law, and commandments that the Lord gave ²  the descendants of Jacob, whom he renamed Israel.

He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing – the great abominations that the people ¹  of Israel are practicing here, to drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will see greater abominations than these!”

So all the skilled people who were doing all the work on the sanctuary came from the work ¹  they were doing

When these men broke into Micah’s house and stole ¹  the carved image, the ephod, the personal idols, and the metal image, the priest said to them, “What are you doing?”

They did not audit the treasurers who disbursed ¹  the funds to the foremen, for they were honest. ² 

But each of these nations made ¹  its own gods and put them in the shrines on the high places that the people of Samaria ²  had made. Each nation did this in the cities where they lived.

At the same time they worshiped ¹  the Lord. They appointed some of their own people to serve as priests in the shrines on the high places. ² 

He told the judges, “Be careful what you do, ¹  for you are not judging for men, but for the Lord, who will be with you when you make judicial decisions.

Then I ¹  said, “The thing that you are doing is wrong! ²  Should you not conduct yourselves ³  in the fear of our God in order to avoid the reproach of the Gentiles who are our enemies?

So I registered a complaint with the nobles of Judah, saying to them, “What is this evil thing that you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day?

to have them observe the fourteenth and the fifteenth day of the month of Adar each year

Now, if you will show faithful love to my master, tell me. But if not, tell me as well, so that I may go on my way.” ¹
