You make me happier ¹  than those who have abundant grain and wine. ² 

Watch my enemies, for they outnumber me; they hate me and want to harm me. ¹ 

But those who are my enemies for no reason are numerous; ¹  those who hate me without cause outnumber me. ² 

When humankind ¹  began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born ²  to them, ³ 

If you sin, how does it affect God? ¹  If your transgressions are many, what does it do to him? ² 

How many living things you have made, O Lord! ¹  You have exhibited great skill in making all of them; ²  the earth is full of the living things you have made.

Our storehouses ¹  will be full, providing all kinds of food. ²  Our sheep will multiply by the thousands and fill ³  our pastures. ⁴ 

For the Lord judges all humanity ¹  with fire and his sword; the Lord will kill many. ² 

A psalm of David, written when he fled from his son Absalom. ²  Lord, how ³  numerous are my enemies! Many attack me. ⁴ 

Those who hate me without cause are more numerous than the hairs of my head. Those who want to destroy me, my enemies for no reason, ¹  outnumber me. ²  They make me repay what I did not steal! ³ 

Then I said, ¹  “O Lord, intervene for the honor of your name ²  even though our sins speak out against us. ³  Indeed, ⁴  we have turned away from you many times. We have sinned against you.

The population of Egypt is like a vast, impenetrable forest. But I, the Lord, affirm ¹  that the enemy will cut them down. For those who chop them down will be more numerous than locusts. They will be too numerous to count. ² 

So like a lion from the thicket their enemies will kill them. Like a wolf from the desert they will destroy them. Like a leopard they will lie in wait outside their cities and totally destroy anyone who ventures out. ¹  For they have rebelled so much and done so many unfaithful things. ²
