Present to God a thank-offering! Repay your vows to the sovereign One! ¹ 

As for you, the one who lives ²  in the shelter of the sovereign One, ³  and resides in the protective shadow ⁴  of the mighty king ⁵  –

I will climb up to the tops ¹  of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High!” ² 

to deprive a person ¹  of his rights ²  in the presence of the Most High,

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that everything comes – both calamity and blessing? ¹ 

The Lord thundered ¹  from the sky; the sovereign One ²  shouted loudly. ³ 

I will thank the Lord for ¹  his justice; I will sing praises to the sovereign Lord! ² 

I will be happy and rejoice in you! I will sing praises to you, O sovereign One! ¹ 

I cry out for help to the sovereign God, ¹  to the God who vindicates ²  me.

They say, “How does God know what we do? Is the sovereign one aware of what goes on?” ¹ 

Then I said, “I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One ¹  might become inactive. ² 

Yet they continued to sin against him, and rebelled against the sovereign One ¹  in the desert.

They remembered that God was their protector, ¹  and that the sovereign God was their deliverer. ² 

Yet they challenged and defied ¹  the sovereign God, ²  and did not obey ³  his commands. ⁴ 

I thought, ¹  ‘You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.’ ² 

I will appoint him to be my firstborn son, ¹  the most exalted of the earth’s kings.

For you have taken refuge in the Lord, my shelter, the sovereign One. ¹ 

because they had rebelled against God’s commands, ¹  and rejected the instructions of the sovereign king. ² 

Melchizedek king of Salem ¹  brought out bread and wine. (Now he was the priest of the Most High God.) ² 

He blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by ¹  the Most High God, Creator ²  of heaven and earth. ³
