For though we live 1 as human beings, 2 we do not wage war according to human standards, 3
So then from now on we acknowledge 1 no one from an outward human point of view. 2 Even though we have known Christ from such a human point of view, 3 now we do not know him in that way any longer.
You people 1 judge by outward appearances; 2 I do not judge anyone. 3
concerning his Son who was a descendant 1 of David with reference to the flesh, 2
What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, 1 has discovered regarding this matter? 2
So then, 1 brothers and sisters, 2 we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh
if somehow I could provoke my people to jealousy and save some of them.
Since many 1 are boasting according to human standards, 2 I too will boast.
But just as at that time the one born by natural descent 1 persecuted the one born according to the Spirit, 2 so it is now.
and the two will become one flesh. 1 So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
The one who eats 1 my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me, and I in him. 2
so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by 1 the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.
(for if you live according to the flesh, you will 1 die), 2 but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.
Look at the people of Israel. 1 Are not those who eat the sacrifices partners in the altar?
But one, the son by the slave woman, was born by natural descent, 1 while the other, the son by the free woman, was born through the promise.
Now those who belong to Christ 1 have crucified the flesh 2 with its passions 3 and desires.
Yet these men, 1 as a result of their dreams, 2 defile the flesh, reject authority, 3 and insult 4 the glorious ones. 5
Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus 1 began to argue with one another, 2 “How can this man 3 give us his flesh to eat?”
The one who eats 1 my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 2
