“Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves. 1
Beware 1 of people, because they will hand you over to councils 2 and flog 3 you in their synagogues. 4
“Watch out,” Jesus said to them, “beware of the yeast of the Pharisees 1 and Sadducees.” 2
Watch 1 yourselves! If 2 your brother 3 sins, rebuke him. If 4 he repents, forgive him.
Then he said to the council, 1 “Men of Israel, 2 pay close attention to 3 what you are about to do to these men.
How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”
“But be on your guard 1 so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day close down upon you suddenly like a trap. 2
“Be 1 careful not to display your righteousness merely to be seen by people. 2 Otherwise you have no reward with your Father in heaven.
Meanwhile, 1 when many thousands of the crowd had gathered so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus 2 began to speak first to his disciples, “Be on your guard against 3 the yeast of the Pharisees, 4 which is hypocrisy. 5
“Beware 1 of the experts in the law. 2 They 3 like walking around in long robes, and they love elaborate greetings 4 in the marketplaces and the best seats 5 in the synagogues 6 and the places of honor at banquets.
Watch out for 1 yourselves and for all the flock of which 2 the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, 3 to shepherd the church of God 4 that he obtained 5 with the blood of his own Son. 6
