Simon the Zealot ¹  and Judas Iscariot, ²  who betrayed him. ³ 

Then one of the twelve, the one named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests

Then ¹  Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus into their hands. ² 

But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was going to betray him) ¹  said,

The evening meal ¹  was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart ²  of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betray ³  Jesus. ⁴ 

Both Judas and Silas, who were prophets themselves, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with a long speech. ¹

Then ¹  Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus ²  replied, “You have said it yourself.”

Now when ¹  Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus ²  had been condemned, he regretted what he had done and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders,

While he was still speaking, suddenly a crowd appeared, ¹  and the man named Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He walked up ²  to Jesus to kiss him. ³ 

“Lord,” Judas (not Judas Iscariot) ¹  said, ²  “what has happened that you are going to reveal ³  yourself to us and not to the world?”

(Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, knew the place too, because Jesus had met there many times ¹  with his disciples.) ² 

So Judas obtained a squad of soldiers ¹  and some officers of the chief priests and Pharisees. ²  They came to the orchard ³  with lanterns ⁴  and torches and weapons.

They replied, ¹  “Jesus the Nazarene.” He told them, “I am he.” (Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, was standing there with them.) ² 

to assume the task ¹  of this service ²  and apostleship from which Judas turned aside ³  to go to his own place.” ⁴ 

Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother named Mary? ¹  And aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?

While he was still speaking, Judas, ¹  one of the twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and elders of the people.

Some thought that, because Judas had the money box, Jesus was telling him to buy whatever they needed for the feast, ¹  or to give something to the poor.) ²
