And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.

Another sharp division took place among the Jewish people ¹  because of these words.

For you have brought these men here who are neither temple robbers ¹  nor blasphemers of our goddess. ² 

They will maintain the outward appearance ¹  of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these. ² 

When ¹  Jesus finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed by his teaching,

When ¹  Jesus had finished saying all these things, he told his disciples,

His disciples answered him, “Where can someone get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”

Jesus replied, ¹  “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for ²  me, let these men ³  go.” ⁴ 

So if you have ordinary lawsuits, do you appoint as judges those who have no standing in the church? ¹ 

Then, when I arrive, I will send those whom you approve with letters of explanation to carry your gift to Jerusalem. ¹ 

and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death.

Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them as follows: ¹  “Do not go to Gentile regions ²  and do not enter any Samaritan town. ³ 

Now ¹  about eight days ²  after these sayings, Jesus ³  took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up the mountain to pray.

“Take these words to heart, ¹  for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.” ² 

But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king, ¹  bring them here and slaughter ²  them ³  in front of me!’”

He will come and destroy ¹  those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” ²  When the people ³  heard this, they said, “May this never happen!” ⁴ 

When Ananias heard these words he collapsed and died, and great fear gripped ¹  all who heard about it.

Now when the commander ¹  of the temple guard ²  and the chief priests heard this report, ³  they were greatly puzzled concerning it, ⁴  wondering what this could ⁵  be.

“No one can withhold the water for these people to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, ¹  can he?” ² 

“Everyone ¹  who hears these words of mine and does them is like ²  a wise man ³  who built his house on rock.
