For since he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted by evil, ¹  and he himself tempts no one.

And one of them, an expert in religious law, ¹  asked him a question to test ²  him:

Others, to test ¹  him, ²  began asking for ³  a sign ⁴  from heaven.

(Now Jesus ¹  said this to test him, for he knew what he was going to do.) ² 

He ¹  even tried to desecrate ²  the temple, so we arrested ³  him. ⁴ 

But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires.

So ¹  when I could bear it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter somehow tempted you and our toil had proven useless.

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness ¹  to be tempted by the devil.

Now when the Pharisees ¹  and Sadducees ²  came to test Jesus, ³  they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. ⁴ 

But Jesus realized their evil intentions and said, “Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?

Then some Pharisees ¹  came, and to test him ²  they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his ³  wife?” ⁴ 

And let us not put Christ ¹  to the test, as some of them did, and were destroyed by snakes. ² 

“There your fathers tested me and tried me, ¹  and they saw my works for forty years.

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac. He had received the promises, ¹  yet he was ready to offer up ²  his only son.

The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.” ¹ 

Then some Pharisees ¹  came to him in order to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful ²  to divorce a wife for any cause?” ³ 

He was in the wilderness forty days, ¹  enduring temptations from Satan. He ²  was with wild animals, and angels were ministering to his needs. ³ 

Then the Pharisees ¹  came and began to argue with Jesus, asking for ²  a sign from heaven ³  to test him.

where for forty days he endured temptations ¹  from the devil. He ²  ate nothing ³  during those days, and when they were completed, ⁴  he was famished.
