and if ¹  I ask you, you will not ²  answer.

I am praying ¹  on behalf of them. I am not praying ²  on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those you have given me, because they belong to you. ³ 

Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said. ¹  They ²  know what I said.”

He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They replied, “Seven.”

If he cannot succeed, ¹  he will send a representative ²  while the other is still a long way off and ask for terms of peace. ³ 

Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, ¹  “Rabbi, eat something.” ² 

and came ¹  and apologized to them. After ²  they brought them out, they asked them repeatedly ³  to leave the city.

When they asked him to stay longer, he would not consent, ¹ 

When he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.

As he spoke, ¹  a Pharisee ²  invited Jesus ³  to have a meal with him, so he went in and took his place at the table. ⁴ 

So ¹  the rich man ²  said, ‘Then I beg you, father – send Lazarus ³  to my father’s house

If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs ¹  it.’”

He answered them, ¹  “I will also ask you a question, and you tell me:

So when the Samaritans came to him, they began asking ¹  him to stay with them. ²  He stayed there two days,

They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Pick up your mat ¹  and walk’?” ² 

Then ¹  I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate ²  to be with you forever –

But now I am going to the one who sent me, ¹  and not one of you is asking me, ‘Where are you going?’ ² 

I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them safe ¹  from the evil one. ² 

“I am not praying ¹  only on their behalf, but also on behalf of those who believe ²  in me through their testimony, ³ 

While this was happening, ¹  the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching. ²
