If the whole body were an eye, what part would do the hearing? If the whole were an ear, what part would exercise the sense of smell?

So ¹  the news about him spread quickly throughout all the region around Galilee.

Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word ¹  of Christ. ² 

But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” ¹ 

(for while he lived among them day after day, that righteous man was tormented in his righteous soul ¹  by the lawless deeds he saw and heard ² )

so that the word ¹  of Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled. He said, ²  “Lord, who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord ³  been revealed?” ⁴ 

So a report about him spread throughout Syria. People ¹  brought to him all who suffered with various illnesses and afflictions, those who had seizures, ²  paralytics, and those possessed by demons, ³  and he healed them.

And concerning them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: ‘You will listen carefully ¹  yet will never understand, you will look closely ²  yet will never comprehend.

when he said, ‘Go to this people and say, “You will keep on hearing, ¹  but will never understand, and you will keep on looking, ²  but will never perceive.
