Then ¹  all the disciples ²  left him and fled.

but he ran off naked, ¹  leaving his linen cloth behind.

So then, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

You snakes, you offspring of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? ¹ 

then those in Judea must flee ¹  to the mountains.

So submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Every ¹  island fled away ²  and no mountains could be found. ³ 

The ¹  herdsmen ran off, went into the town, ²  and told everything that had happened to the demon-possessed men.

They will never follow a stranger, ¹  but will run away from him, because they do not recognize ²  the stranger’s voice.” ³ 

But you, as a person dedicated to God, ¹  keep away from all that. ²  Instead pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.

But this has happened so that ¹  the scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.

Now ¹  the herdsmen ran off and spread the news in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.

Then ¹  they went out and ran from the tomb, for terror and bewilderment had seized them. ²  And they said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

So John ¹  said to the crowds ²  that came out to be baptized by him, “You offspring of vipers! ³  Who warned you to flee ⁴  from the coming wrath?

When ¹  the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran off and spread the news ²  in the town ³  and countryside.

Then those who are in Judea must flee ¹  to the mountains. Those ²  who are inside the city must depart. Those ³  who are out in the country must not enter it,

When the man said this, ¹  Moses fled and became a foreigner ²  in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.

Then when the sailors tried to escape from the ship and were lowering the ship’s boat into the sea, pretending ¹  that they were going to put out anchors from the bow,

Flee sexual immorality! “Every sin a person commits is outside of the body” ¹  – but the immoral person sins against his own body.

But keep away from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace, in company with others ¹  who call on the Lord from a pure heart. ²
