he saved us not by works of righteousness that we have done but on the basis of his mercy, through the washing of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help. 1
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, 1 full of mercy and good fruit, 2 impartial, and not hypocritical. 3
Grace, mercy, and 1 peace will be with us from God the Father and from 2 Jesus Christ the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
Blessed be 1 the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
“Woe to you, experts in the law 1 and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You give a tenth 2 of mint, dill, and cumin, 3 yet you neglect what is more important in the law – justice, mercy, and faithfulness! You 4 should have done these things without neglecting the others.
