He frustrates ¹  the plans ²  of the crafty ³  so that ⁴  their hands cannot accomplish what they had planned! ⁵ 

They were hiring advisers to oppose them, so as to frustrate their plans, throughout the time ¹  of King Cyrus of Persia until the reign of King Darius ²  of Persia. ³ 

It so happened that when our adversaries heard that we were aware of these matters, ¹  God frustrated their intentions. Then all of us returned to the wall, each to his own work.

The Lord frustrates ¹  the decisions of the nations; he nullifies the plans ²  of the peoples.

who frustrates the omens of the empty talkers ¹  and humiliates ²  the omen readers, who overturns the counsel of the wise men ³  and makes their advice ⁴  seem foolish,

Plans fail ¹  when there is no counsel, but with abundant advisers they are established. ² 

You want to humiliate the oppressed, ¹  even though ²  the Lord is their ³  shelter.

Surely, he ate in darkness every day of his life, ¹  and he suffered greatly with sickness and anger.

For the creation was subjected to futility – not willingly but because of God ¹  who subjected it – in hope

For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.” ¹ 

But Amnon became frustrated because he was so lovesick ¹  over his sister Tamar. For she was a virgin, and to Amnon it seemed out of the question to do anything to her.

They again challenged God, ¹  and offended ²  the Holy One of Israel. ³ 

The Lord protects those residing outside their native land; he lifts up the fatherless and the widow, ¹  but he opposes the wicked. ² 

Indeed, ¹  the Lord who commands armies has a plan, and who can possibly frustrate it? His hand is ready to strike, and who can possibly stop it? ² 

I do not set aside ¹  God’s grace, because if righteousness ²  could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing! ³ 

Later Reuben returned to the cistern to find that Joseph was not in it! ¹  He tore his clothes,

My days have passed, my plans ¹  are shattered, even ²  the desires ³  of my heart.

Do not be angry and frustrated! ¹  Do not fret! That only leads to trouble!

I was stone silent; ¹  I held back the urge to speak. ²  My frustration grew; ³ 

Confuse them, ¹  O Lord! Frustrate their plans! ²  For I see violence and conflict in the city.
