Is there any falsehood ¹  on my lips? Can my mouth ²  not discern evil things? ³ 

He deprives the trusted advisers ¹  of speech ²  and takes away the discernment ³  of elders.

“So now Pharaoh should look ¹  for a wise and discerning man ²  and give him authority ³  over all the land of Egypt.

For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.” ¹ 

So give your servant a discerning mind ¹  so he can make judicial decisions for ²  your people and distinguish right from wrong. ³  Otherwise ⁴  no one is able ⁵  to make judicial decisions for ⁶  this great nation of yours.” ⁷ 

So your servant said, ‘May the word of my lord the king be my security, for my lord the king is like the angel of God when it comes to deciding between right and wrong! May the Lord your God be with you!’”

Therefore I will again do an amazing thing for these people – an absolutely extraordinary deed. ¹  Wise men will have nothing to say, the sages will have no explanations.” ² 

To ¹  learn ²  wisdom ³  and moral instruction, ⁴  and to discern ⁵  wise counsel. ⁶ 

I wish that they were wise and could understand this, and that they could comprehend what will happen to them.”

Who can know all his errors? ¹  Please do not punish me for sins I am unaware of. ² 

I am your servant. Give me insight, so that I can understand ¹  your rules.

Wisdom is found in the words ¹  of the discerning person, ²  but the one who lacks wisdom ³  will be disciplined. ⁴ 

Wisdom is directly in front of ¹  the discerning person, but the eyes of a fool run ²  to the ends of the earth. ³ 

The one who keeps the law ¹  is a discerning child, ²  but a companion of gluttons brings shame ³  to his parents. ⁴ 

So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has enabled you to know all this, there is no one as wise and discerning ¹  as you are!

It stands still, ¹  but I cannot recognize ²  its appearance; an image is before my eyes, and I hear a murmuring voice: ³ 

and in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, because the sky is red and darkening.’ ¹  You know how to judge correctly the appearance of the sky, ²  but you cannot evaluate the signs of the times.

You hypocrites! ¹  You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how can you not know how ²  to interpret the present time?

God said to him, “Because you asked for the ability to make wise judicial decisions, and not for long life, or riches, or vengeance on your enemies, ¹ 

Who is wise? Let him discern ¹  these things! Who is discerning? Let him understand them! For the ways of the Lord are right; the godly walk in them, but in them the rebellious stumble.
