The wild goats live in the high mountains; ¹  the rock badgers find safety in the cliffs.

rock badgers ¹  are creatures with little power, but they make their homes in the crags;

The rock badger ¹  is unclean to you because it chews the cud even though its hoof is not divided.

ram skins dyed red, ¹  fine leather, ²  acacia ³  wood,

However, you may not eat the following animals among those that chew the cud or those that have divided hooves: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger. ¹  (Although they chew the cud, they do not have divided hooves and are therefore ritually impure to you).
