So that same day Esau made his way back ¹  to Seir.

So Esau (also known as Edom) lived in the hill country of Seir. ¹ 

This is the account of Esau, the father ¹  of the Edomites, in the hill country of Seir.

These were the sons of Seir the Horite, ¹  who were living in the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

and the Horites in their hill country of Seir, as far as El Paran, which is near the desert. ¹ 

Jacob sent messengers on ahead ¹  to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the region ²  of Edom.

Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Horites, the descendants ¹  of Seir in the land of Edom.

Edom will be a possession, Seir, ¹  his enemies, will also be a possession; but Israel will act valiantly.

Now it is ordinarily an eleven-day journey ¹  from Horeb ²  to Kadesh Barnea ³  by way of Mount Seir. ⁴ 

The sons of Seir: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  Mount Seir, ²  and prophesy against it.

I will turn Mount Seir into a desolate ruin; ¹  I will cut off ²  from it the one who passes through or returns.

The Ammonites and Moabites attacked the men from Mount Seir ¹  and annihilated them. ²  When they had finished off the men ³  of Seir, they attacked and destroyed one another. ⁴ 

The Amorite inhabitants of that area ¹  confronted ²  you and chased you like a swarm of bees, striking you down from Seir as far as Hormah. ³ 

Then we turned and set out toward the desert land on the way to the Red Sea ¹  just as the Lord told me to do, detouring around Mount Seir for a long time.

Instruct ¹  these people as follows: ‘You are about to cross the border of your relatives ²  the descendants of Esau, ³  who inhabit Seir. They will be afraid of you, so watch yourselves carefully.

This is exactly what he did for the descendants of Esau who lived in Seir when he destroyed the Horites before them so that they could dispossess them and settle in their area to this very day.

It then turned from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, crossed to the slope of Mount Jearim on the north (that is Kesalon), descended to Beth Shemesh, and crossed to Timnah.

and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. To Esau I assigned Mount Seir, ¹  while Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.
