For ¹  Peter ²  and all who were with him were astonished ³  at the catch of fish that they had taken,

plotting against ¹  him, to catch ²  him in something he might say.

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is well pleased ¹  to give you the kingdom.

The God of our forefathers ¹  raised up Jesus, whom you seized and killed by hanging him on a tree. ² 

Conduct yourselves ¹  with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunities.

I would go out after it, strike it down, and rescue the sheep from its mouth. If it rose up against me, I would grab it by its jaw, strike it, and kill it.

I set a trap for you, Babylon; you were caught before you knew it. You fought against me. So you were found and captured. ¹ 

Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I am about to give the land of Egypt to King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon. He will carry off her wealth, capture her loot, and seize her plunder; it will be his army’s wages.

For Herod himself had sent men, arrested John, and bound him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because Herod ¹  had married her.

Two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the chief priests and the experts in the law ¹  were trying to find a way ²  to arrest Jesus ³  by stealth and kill him.

Letters were sent by the runners to all the king’s provinces stating that ¹  they should destroy, kill, and annihilate all the Jews, from youth to elderly, both women and children, ²  on a particular day, namely the thirteenth day ³  of the twelfth month (that is, the month of Adar), and to loot and plunder their possessions.

For Heshbon was the city of King Sihon of the Amorites. Now he had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all of his land from his control, ¹  as far as the Arnon.

The Lord said to Moses, “Arrest all the leaders ¹  of the people, and hang them up ²  before the Lord in broad daylight, ³  so that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel.”

The Israelites took the women of Midian captives along with their little ones, and took all their herds, all their flocks, and all their goods as plunder.

At that time we seized all his cities and put every one of them ¹  under divine judgment, ²  including even the women and children; we left no survivors.

When you capture the city, set it ¹  on fire. Do as the Lord says! See, I have given you orders.” ² 

Then the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the city official and Joash the king’s son.
