and 32,000 young women who had never had sexual intercourse with a man. ¹ 

If your fellow Hebrew ¹  – whether male or female ²  – is sold to you and serves you for six years, then in the seventh year you must let that servant ³  go free. ⁴ 

At the testimony of two or three witnesses they must be executed. They cannot be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

Joshua summoned the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one per tribe.

Twelve thousand men and women died ¹  that day, including all the men of Ai.

After all this ¹  Joshua son of Nun, the Lord’s servant, died at the age of one hundred ten.

He had forty sons and thirty grandsons who rode on seventy donkeys. He led Israel for eight years.

The Benjaminites attacked from Gibeah and struck down twenty-two thousand Israelites that day. ¹ 

So her sons ¹  married ²  Moabite women. (One was named Orpah and the other Ruth.) ³  And they continued to live there about ten years.

After the death of Saul, ¹  when David had returned from defeating the Amalekites, ²  he stayed at Ziklag ³  for two days.

David was king in Hebron over the people of Judah for seven and a half years. ¹ 

So they got up and crossed over by number: twelve belonging to Benjamin and to Ish-bosheth son of Saul, and twelve from the servants of David.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem ¹  he reigned for thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.

So the woman did as the prophet said. ¹  She and her family went and lived in the land of the Philistines for seven years.

After seven years the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went to ask the king to give her back her house and field. ¹
