The one who sows ¹  iniquity will reap trouble, and the rod of his fury ²  will end.

A poor person ¹  who oppresses the weak is like ²  a driving rain without food. ³ 

A time to be born, ¹  and a time to die; ²  a time to plant, and a time to uproot what was planted;

The new wine dries up, the vines shrivel up, all those who like to celebrate ¹  groan.

Your plunder ¹  disappears as if locusts were eating it; ²  they swarm over it like locusts! ³ 

Your misdeeds have stopped these things from coming. ¹  Your sins have deprived you of my bounty.’ ² 

At the risk ¹  of our lives ²  we get our food ³  because robbers lurk ⁴  in the countryside. ⁵ 

Threshing floors and wine vats will not feed the people, ¹  and new wine only deceives them. ² 

So ¹  the Pharisees ²  said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is against the law on the Sabbath?”

But some of the Pharisees ¹  said, “Why are you ²  doing what is against the law ³  on the Sabbath?”

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

I do not say this because I am seeking a gift. ¹  Rather, I seek the credit that abounds to your account.

But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is useless and about to be cursed; ¹  its fate is to be burned.

Joy and happiness disappear from the orchards, and in the vineyards no one rejoices or shouts; no one treads out juice in the wine vats ¹  – I have brought the joyful shouts to an end. ² 

Tell your daughters and neighbors, ‘The Lord says, “The dead bodies of people will lie scattered everywhere like manure scattered on a field. They will lie scattered on the ground like grain that has been cut down but has not been gathered.”’” ¹ 

Israel was a fertile vine that yielded fruit. As his fruit multiplied, he multiplied altars to Baal. ¹  As his land prospered, they adorned the fertility pillars.

Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap unfailing love. Break up the unplowed ground for yourselves, for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers deliverance ¹  on you.

“If thieves came to rob you ¹  during the night, ²  they would steal only as much as they wanted! ³  If grape pickers came to harvest your vineyards, ⁴  they would leave some behind for the poor! ⁵  But you will be totally destroyed! ⁶ 

I am depressed! ¹  Indeed, ²  it is as if the summer fruit has been gathered, and the grapes have been harvested. ³  There is no grape cluster to eat, no fresh figs that I crave so much. ⁴ 

From that time ¹  when one came expecting a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten; when one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty measures from it, there were only twenty.
