It was appropriate ¹  to celebrate and be glad, for your brother ²  was dead, and is alive; he was lost and is found.’” ³ 

(for I have five brothers) to warn ¹  them so that they don’t come ²  into this place of torment.’

but I have prayed for you, Simon, ¹  that your faith may not fail. ²  When ³  you have turned back, ⁴  strengthen ⁵  your brothers.”

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said ¹  and followed Jesus. ² 

He first ¹  found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” ²  (which is translated Christ). ³ 

After this he went down to Capernaum ¹  with his mother and brothers ²  and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

(Now it was Mary who anointed the Lord with perfumed oil ¹  and wiped his feet dry with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) ² 

All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers. ¹ 

In those days ¹  Peter stood up among the believers ²  (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,

Now when they heard this, ¹  they were acutely distressed ²  and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “What should we do, brothers?”

But carefully select from among you, brothers, ¹  seven ²  men who are well-attested, ³  full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge ⁴  of this necessary task. ⁵ 

On their second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers again, and Joseph’s family ¹  became known to Pharaoh.

But when he was about forty years old, it entered his mind ¹  to visit his fellow countrymen ²  the Israelites. ³ 

He thought his own people ¹  would understand that God was delivering them ²  through him, ³  but they did not understand. ⁴ 

The next day Moses ¹  saw two men ²  fighting, and tried to make peace between ³  them, saying, ‘Men, you are brothers; why are you hurting one another?’

This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, ¹  ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers.’ ² 

So Peter ¹  invited them in and entertained them as guests. On the next day he got up and set out ²  with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa ³  accompanied him.

Now the apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles too had accepted ¹  the word of God. ² 

So the disciples, each in accordance with his financial ability, ¹  decided ²  to send relief ³  to the brothers living in Judea.

Brothers, ¹  descendants ²  of Abraham’s family, ³  and those Gentiles among you who fear God, ⁴  the message ⁵  of this salvation has been sent to us.
