No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate ¹  the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise ²  the other. You cannot serve God and money.” ³ 

My goal is that ¹  their hearts, having been knit together ²  in love, may be encouraged, and that ³  they may have all the riches that assurance brings in their understanding of the knowledge of the mystery of God, namely, Christ, ⁴ 

Command those who are rich in this world’s goods ¹  not to be haughty or to set their hope on riches, which are uncertain, ²  but on God who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.

Your gold and silver have rusted and their rust will be a witness against you. It will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have hoarded treasure! ¹ 

Because you say, “I am rich and have acquired great wealth, ¹  and need nothing,” but ²  do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, ³  poor, blind, and naked,

For all the nations ¹  have fallen ²  from the wine of her immoral passion, ³  and the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have gotten rich from the power of her sensual behavior.” ⁴ 

(Now Abram was very wealthy ¹  in livestock, silver, and gold.) ² 

Seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the whole land of Egypt.

But all the livestock and plunder from the cities we kept for ourselves.

The rich man had a great many flocks and herds.

He will not look on the streams, ¹  the rivers, which are the torrents ²  of honey and butter. ³ 

then the Almighty himself will be your gold, ¹  and the choicest ²  silver for you.

They reap fodder ¹  in the field, and glean ²  in the vineyard of the wicked.

Lord, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, ¹  from the murderers of this world! ²  They enjoy prosperity; ³  you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. ⁴  They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring. ⁵ 

I rejoice in the lifestyle prescribed by your rules ¹  as if ²  they were riches of all kinds. ³ 

Give me a desire for your rules, ¹  rather than for wealth gained unjustly. ² 

I rejoice in your instructions, like one who finds much plunder. ¹ 

May there be peace inside your defenses, and prosperity ¹  inside your fortresses! ² 

if ¹  you seek ²  it like silver, ³  and search for it ⁴  like hidden treasure,

Treasures gained by wickedness ¹  do not profit, but righteousness ²  delivers from mortal danger. ³
