Blow the trumpet ¹  in Zion. Announce a holy fast; proclaim a sacred assembly!

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, ¹  and then the end will come.

In the wilderness ¹  John the baptizer ²  began preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. ³ 

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

He ¹  went into all the region around the Jordan River, ²  preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. ³ 

And in this way, ¹  with many other exhortations, John ²  proclaimed good news to the people.

And all the prophets, from Samuel and those who followed him, have spoken about and announced ¹  these days.

So Philip started speaking, ¹  and beginning with this scripture ²  proclaimed the good news about Jesus to him.

but we preach about a crucified Christ, ¹  a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.

Now ¹  I want you to know, brothers and sisters, ²  that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. ³ 

The latter do so from love because they know that I am placed here for the defense of the gospel.

You have also established prophets to announce ¹  in Jerusalem ²  on your behalf, ‘We have a king in Judah!’ Now the king is going to hear about these rumors. So come on! Let’s talk about this.” ³

The look on their faces ¹  testifies to their guilt; ²  like the people of Sodom they openly boast of their sin. ³  Too bad for them! ⁴  For they bring disaster on themselves.
