When they had appointed elders ¹  for them in the various churches, ²  with prayer and fasting ³  they entrusted them to the protection ⁴  of the Lord in whom they had believed.

After they stopped speaking, ¹  James replied, ²  “Brothers, listen to me.

I know that after I am gone ¹  fierce wolves ²  will come in among you, not sparing the flock.

Therefore be alert, ¹  remembering that night and day for three years I did not stop warning ²  each one of you with tears.

You yourselves know that these hands of mine ¹  provided for my needs and the needs of those who were with me.

Then, after conferring with his council, ¹  Festus ²  replied, “You have appealed to Caesar; ³  to Caesar ⁴  you will go!” ⁵ 

After three months we put out to sea ¹  in an Alexandrian ship that had wintered at the island and had the “Heavenly Twins” ²  as its figurehead. ³ 

From there we cast off ¹  and arrived at Rhegium, ²  and after one day a south wind sprang up ³  and on the second day we came to Puteoli. ⁴ 

proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ ¹  with complete boldness ²  and without restriction. ³ 

begging us with great earnestness for the blessing and fellowship of helping ¹  the saints.

And we are sending ¹  along with him the brother who is praised by all the churches for his work in spreading the gospel. ² 

Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem ¹  to visit Cephas ²  and get information from him, ³  and I stayed with him fifteen days.

Therefore, having laid aside falsehood, each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, ¹  for we are members of one another.

being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might for the display of ¹  all patience and steadfastness, joyfully

I, Paul, write this greeting by my own hand. ¹  Remember my chains. ²  Grace be with you. ³ 

and our Lord’s grace was abundant, bringing faith and love in Christ Jesus. ¹ 

But she will be delivered through childbearing, ¹  if she ²  continues in faith and love and holiness with self-control.

So communicate these things with the sort of exhortation or rebuke ¹  that carries full authority. ²  Don’t let anyone look down ³  on you.

For if we deliberately keep on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins is left for us, ¹ 

By faith Rahab the prostitute escaped the destruction of ¹  the disobedient, because she welcomed the spies in peace.
