Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. ¹  For a person ²  will reap what he sows,

You must not go after other gods, those ¹  of the surrounding peoples,

For our enemies’ ¹  rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede.

Let him not trust in what is worthless, ¹  deceiving himself; for worthlessness will be his reward. ² 

So Job opens his mouth to no purpose; ¹  without knowledge he multiplies words.”

His victims are crushed and beaten down; they are trapped in his sturdy nets. ¹ 

Who can know all his errors? ¹  Please do not punish me for sins I am unaware of. ² 

If we had rejected our God, ¹  and spread out our hands in prayer to another god, ² 

¹ I say to the proud, “Do not be proud,” and to the wicked, “Do not be so confident of victory! ² 

You despise ¹  all who stray from your statutes, for they are deceptive and unreliable. ² 

A man who commits adultery with a woman lacks wisdom, ¹  whoever does it destroys his own life. ² 

Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways – do not wander into her pathways;

Wisdom is found in the words ¹  of the discerning person, ²  but the one who lacks wisdom ³  will be disciplined. ⁴ 

What the righteous say ¹  is like ²  the best ³  silver, but what the wicked think ⁴  is of little value. ⁵ 

The one who works ¹  his field will have plenty ²  of food, but whoever chases daydreams ³  lacks wisdom. ⁴ 

Every wise woman ¹  builds ²  her household, ³  but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.

When a scorner is punished, the naive ¹  becomes wise; when a wise person is instructed, ²  he gains knowledge.

It is not for kings, ¹  O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, ²  or for rulers to crave strong drink, ³ 

At the beginning his words ¹  are foolish and at the end ²  his talk ³  is wicked madness, ⁴ 

Egypt will not be able to do a thing, head or tail, shoots and stalk. ¹
