When I saw that you were not going to help, ¹  I risked my life ²  and advanced against ³  the Ammonites, and the Lord handed them over to me. Why have you come up ⁴  to fight with me today?”

Then Ishmael took captive all the people who were still left alive in Mizpah. This included the royal princesses ¹  and all the rest of the people in Mizpah that Nebuzaradan, the captain of the royal guard, had put under the authority of Gedaliah son of Ahikam. Ishmael son of Nethaniah took all these people captive and set out to cross over to the Ammonites.

Everyone who crosses over to those numbered, from twenty years old and up, is to pay an offering to the Lord.

He spares a person’s life from corruption, ¹  his very life from crossing over ²  the river.

You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again. ¹

And they crucified two outlaws with him, one on his right and one on his left. ¹ 

After this ¹  Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (also called the Sea of Tiberias). ² 

And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people ¹  to myself.”

For I decided to be concerned about nothing ¹  among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Now those who belong to Christ ¹  have crucified the flesh ²  with its passions ³  and desires.

Now these are the commandments, ¹  statutes, and ordinances that the Lord your God instructed me to teach you so that you may carry them out in the land where you are headed ²

Now the priests carrying the ark of the covenant were standing in the middle of the Jordan until everything the Lord had commanded Joshua to tell the people was accomplished, in accordance with all that Moses had commanded Joshua. The people went across quickly,
