Then when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, ¹  do you love me more than these do?” ²  He replied, ³  “Yes, Lord, you know I love you.” ⁴  Jesus ⁵  told him, “Feed my lambs.”

Jesus ¹  said ²  a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He replied, ³  “Yes, Lord, you know I love you.” Jesus ⁴  told him, “Shepherd my sheep.”

and sent them to Jesus ¹  to ask, ²  “Are you the one who is to come, ³  or should we look for another?”

And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come.

And in this way, ¹  with many other exhortations, John ²  proclaimed good news to the people.

He himself was not the light, but he came to testify ¹  about the light.

So Jesus replied ¹  to him, “Let it happen now, ²  for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John ³  yielded ⁴  to him.

After ¹  making Peter and John ²  stand in their midst, they began to inquire, “By what power or by what name ³  did you do this?”

When they were released, Peter and John ¹  went to their fellow believers ²  and reported everything the high priests and the elders had said to them.

So after Peter and John ¹  had solemnly testified ²  and spoken the word of the Lord, ³  they started back to Jerusalem, proclaiming ⁴  the good news to many Samaritan villages ⁵  as they went. ⁶ 

Jesus ¹  said ²  a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed ³  that Jesus ⁴  asked ⁵  him a third time, “Do you love me?” and said, ⁶  “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus ⁷  replied, ⁸  “Feed my sheep.

So Herodias nursed a grudge against him and wanted to kill him. But ¹  she could not

(I do not accept ¹  human testimony, but I say this so that you may be saved.)

who then ¹  testified to everything that he saw concerning the word of God and the testimony about ²  Jesus Christ.

John ¹  answered them, ²  “The person who has two tunics ³  must share with the person who has none, and the person who has food must do likewise.”

John ¹  said, “I am the voice of one shouting in the wilderness, ‘Make straight ²  the way for the Lord,’ ³  as Isaiah the prophet said.”

Now ¹  when the other ten ²  heard this, ³  they were angry with the two brothers.

(although Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples were), ¹ 

From ¹  the elder, ²  to Gaius ³  my dear brother, whom I love in truth. ⁴ 

For he is the one about whom Isaiah the prophet had spoken: ¹  “The voice ²  of one shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make ³  his paths straight.’” ⁴
