How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine; the fragrance of your perfume is better than any spice!

Then King Nebuchadnezzar bowed down with his face to the ground ¹  and paid homage to Daniel. He gave orders to offer sacrifice and incense to him.

You will plant crops, but will not harvest them; you will squeeze oil from the olives, ¹  but you will have no oil to rub on your bodies; ²  you will squeeze juice from the grapes, but you will have no wine to drink. ³

At the end of the twelve months that were required for the women, ¹  when the turn of each young woman arrived to go to King Ahasuerus – for in this way they had to fulfill their time of cosmetic treatment: six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfume and various ointments used by women –

Asher’s ¹  food will be rich, ²  and he will provide delicacies ³  to royalty.

Whoever makes anything like it, to use as perfume, ¹  will be cut off from his people.”

The water has been pure to this very day, just as Elisha prophesied. ¹ 

He is dragged from the security of his tent, ¹  and marched off ²  to the king ³  of terrors.

Can you tie the bands ¹  of the Pleiades, or release the cords of Orion?

As for me, because I am innocent I will see your face; ¹  when I awake you will reveal yourself to me. ² 

The Lord’s loyal followers receive his guidance, ¹  and he reveals his covenantal demands to them. ² 

I will sing a song that imparts wisdom; I will make insightful observations about the past. ¹ 

The words of a gossip ¹  are like choice morsels; ²  they go down into the person’s innermost being. ³ 

Incline your ear ²  and listen to the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my instruction. ³ 

you will vomit up ¹  the little bit you have eaten, and will have wasted your pleasant words. ² 

It is not good ¹  to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable for people to seek their own glory. ²
