Evil men will soon disappear; ¹  you will stare at the spot where they once were, but they will be gone. ² 

He shouted at ¹  the Red Sea and it dried up; he led them through the deep water as if it were a desert.

This alone have I discovered: God made humankind upright, but they have sought many evil schemes.

From the soles of your feet to your head, there is no spot that is unharmed. ¹  There are only bruises, cuts, and open wounds. They have not been cleansed ²  or bandaged, nor have they been treated ³  with olive oil. ⁴ 

Every valley must be elevated, and every mountain and hill leveled. The rough terrain will become a level plain, the rugged landscape a wide valley.

you who practice ritual sex ¹  under the oaks and every green tree, who slaughter children near the streams under the rocky overhangs. ² 

This is what the Lord says: “The heavens are my throne and the earth is my footstool. Where then is the house you will build for me? Where is the place where I will rest?

You can try to wash away your guilt with a strong detergent. You can use as much soap as you want. But the stain of your guilt is still there for me to see,” ¹  says the Lord God. ² 

However, some of the officials ¹  of Judah heard about what was happening ²  and they rushed up to the Lord’s temple from the royal palace. They set up court ³  at the entrance of the New Gate of the Lord’s temple. ⁴ 

They captured him and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah ¹  in the territory of Hamath and he passed sentence on him there.

The chariot with the black horses is going to the north country and the white ones are going after them, but the spotted ones are going to the south country.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  got up early in the morning when it was still very dark, departed, and went out to a deserted place, and there he spent time in prayer. ³ 

They discussed with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

Then ¹  the disciples ²  said ³  to him, “Where, ⁴  Lord?” He replied to them, “Where the dead body ⁵  is, there the vultures ⁶  will gather.” ⁷ 

And when Jesus came to that place, he looked up ¹  and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, ²  because I must ³  stay at your house today.” ⁴ 

So ¹  they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’

Then ¹  the experts in the law ²  and the chief priests wanted to arrest ³  him that very hour, because they realized he had told this parable against them. But ⁴  they were afraid of the people.

Immediately the man was healed, ¹  and he picked up his mat ²  and started walking. (Now that day was a Sabbath.) ³ 

Jesus said, “Have ¹  the people sit down.” (Now there was a lot of grass in that place.) ²  So the men ³  sat down, about five thousand in number.

and carrying his own cross ¹  he went out to the place called “The Place of the Skull” ²  (called in Aramaic ³  Golgotha). ⁴
