that sends messengers by sea, who glide over the water’s surface in boats made of papyrus. Go, you swift messengers, to a nation of tall, smooth-skinned people, ¹  to a people that are feared far and wide, ²  to a nation strong and victorious, ³  whose land rivers divide. ⁴

Any creature in the water that does not have both fins and scales is detestable to you.

If, however, ¹  the raw flesh once again turns white, ²  then he must come to the priest.

“This is the law of the diseased person on the day of his purification, when ¹  he is brought to the priest. ² 

These you may eat from among water creatures: anything with fins and scales you may eat,

but whatever does not have fins and scales you may not eat; it is ritually impure to you.

The Lord will afflict you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, eczema, and scabies, all of which cannot be healed.
