If anyone intends to quarrel about this, we have no other practice, nor do the churches of God.

If someone thinks he is religious yet does not bridle his tongue, and so deceives his heart, his religion is futile.

You seem to love your enemies and hate your friends! For you have as much as declared today that leaders and servants don’t matter to you. I realize now ¹  that if ²  Absalom were alive and all of us were dead today, ³  it would be all right with you.

Ornan told David, “You can have it! ¹  My master, the king, may do what he wants. ²  Look, I am giving you the oxen for burnt sacrifices, the threshing sledges for wood, and the wheat for an offering. I give it all to you.”

They seek me day after day; they want to know my requirements, ¹  like a nation that does what is right and does not reject the law of their God. They ask me for just decrees; they want to be near God.

So now, bear your disgrace, because you have given your sisters reason to justify their behavior. ¹  Because the sins you have committed were more abominable than those of your sisters; they have become more righteous than you. So now, be ashamed and bear the disgrace of making your sisters appear righteous.

If anyone thinks he is acting inappropriately toward his virgin, ¹  if she is past the bloom of youth ²  and it seems necessary, he should do what he wishes; he does not sin. Let them marry.

For if someone comes and proclaims ¹  another Jesus different from the one we proclaimed, ²  or if you receive a different spirit than the one you received, ³  or a different gospel than the one you accepted, ⁴  you put up with it well enough! ⁵ 

Then ¹  I saw something like a sea of glass ²  mixed with fire, and those who had conquered ³  the beast and his image and the number of his name. They were standing ⁴  by ⁵  the sea of glass, holding harps given to them by God. ⁶ 

Then Abimelech said, “Look, my land is before you; live wherever you please.” ¹ 

But Moses said, ¹  “O ²  my Lord, please send anyone else whom you wish to send!” ³ 

You prove to be reliable ¹  to one who is blameless, but you prove to be deceptive ²  to one who is perverse. ³ 

O Lord, ¹  I have built a lofty temple for you, a place where you can live permanently.”

Do you intend to criticize mere words, and treat ¹  the words of a despairing man as wind?

so that I ¹  would prefer ²  strangling, ³  and ⁴  death ⁵  more ⁶  than life. ⁷ 

He is a well-watered plant ¹  in ²  the sun, its shoots spread ³  over its garden. ⁴ 

then you plunge me into a slimy pit ¹  and my own clothes abhor me.

Terrifying sounds fill ¹  his ears; in a time of peace marauders ²  attack him.

Why should we be regarded as beasts, and considered stupid ¹  in your sight?
