The previous abundance of the land will not be remembered ¹  because of the famine that follows, for the famine will be very severe. ² 

At the end of the 430 years, on the very day, all the regiments ¹  of the Lord went out of the land of Egypt.

¹ In the third month after the Israelites went out ²  from the land of Egypt, on the very day, ³  they came to the Desert of Sinai.

So Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Alas, this people has committed a very serious sin, ¹  and they have made for themselves gods of gold.

On that very day ¹  it must be eaten; you must not leave any part of it ²  over until morning. I am the Lord.

But ¹  the inhabitants ²  are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.

¹ Now the Reubenites and the Gadites possessed a very large number of cattle. When they saw that the lands of Jazer and Gilead were ideal for cattle, ² 

Then they came very close to him and said, “We will build sheep folds here for our flocks and cities for our families, ¹ 

The Lord your God has increased your population ¹  to the point that you are now as numerous as the very stars of the sky. ² 

Indeed, it was the very hand of the Lord that eliminated them from within ¹  the camp until they were all gone.

But you who remained faithful to the Lord your God are still alive to this very day, every one of you.

Be very careful, ¹  then, because you saw no form at the time the Lord spoke to you at Horeb from the middle of the fire.

Then the Lord will scatter you among the peoples and there will be very few of you ¹  among the nations where the Lord will drive you.

And he ¹  brought signs and great, devastating wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on his whole family ²  before our very eyes.

He will hand over their kings to you and you will erase their very names from memory. ¹  Nobody will be able to resist you until you destroy them.

Stand aside ¹  and I will destroy them, obliterating their very name from memory, ²  and I will make you into a stronger and more numerous nation than they are.”

For the thing is very near you – it is in your mouth and in your mind ¹  so that you can do it.

I declare to you this very day that you will certainly ¹  perish! You will not extend your time in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess. ² 

He ¹  buried him in the land of Moab near Beth Peor, but no one knows his exact burial place to this very day.

He told ¹  them, “Look, set an ambush behind the city. Don’t go very far from the city; all of you be ready!
