So ¹  he said to them, “You ²  foolish people ³  – how slow of heart ⁴  to believe ⁵  all that the prophets have spoken!

You people ¹  worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews. ² 

Then the woman left her water jar, went off into the town and said to the people, ¹ 

If those people to whom the word of God came were called ‘gods’ (and the scripture cannot be broken), ¹ 

Then many of the people, ¹  who had come with Mary and had seen the things Jesus ²  did, believed in him.

for on account of him many of the Jewish people from Jerusalem ¹  were going away and believing in Jesus.

“Do not be afraid, people of Zion; ¹  look, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt!” ² 

In those days ¹  Peter stood up among the believers ²  (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,

So those who accepted ¹  his message ²  were baptized, and that day about three thousand people ³  were added. ⁴ 

Every person ¹  who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed ²  from the people.’ ³ 

“Go and stand in the temple courts ¹  and proclaim ²  to the people all the words of this life.”

Now Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and miraculous signs ¹  among the people.

He thought his own people ¹  would understand that God was delivering them ²  through him, ³  but they did not understand. ⁴ 

“You stubborn ¹  people, with uncircumcised ²  hearts and ears! ³  You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors ⁴  did!

Then Peter started speaking: ¹  “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people, ² 

After ¹  he had destroyed ²  seven nations ³  in the land of Canaan, he gave his people their land as an inheritance. ⁴ 

Simeon ¹  has explained ²  how God first concerned himself ³  to select ⁴  from among the Gentiles ⁵  a people for his name.

Therefore, although God has overlooked ¹  such times of ignorance, ²  he now commands all people ³  everywhere to repent, ⁴ 

When we heard this, both we and the local people ¹  begged him not to go up to Jerusalem.

This is the reason ¹  I do my best to always ²  have a clear ³  conscience toward God and toward people. ⁴
