He struck them down and defeated them. ¹  Then he went down and lived for a time in the cave in the cliff of Etam.

When the messengers went to Gibeah (where Saul lived) ¹  and informed the people of these matters, all the people wept loudly. ² 

So David lived in the fortress and called it the City of David. David built all around it, from the terrace inwards.

The palace where he lived was constructed in a similar way. ¹  He also constructed a palace like this hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had married. ² 

¹ Jeroboam built up Shechem in the Ephraimite hill country and lived there. From there he went out and built up Penuel.

The men of the ¹  city, the leaders ²  and the nobles who lived there, ³  followed the written orders Jezebel had sent them. ⁴ 

So the woman did as the prophet said. ¹  She and her family went and lived in the land of the Philistines for seven years.
