The Lord said, ‘Who will deceive King Ahab of Israel, so he will attack Ramoth Gilead and die there?’ One said this and another that.

I will never ¹  declare that you three ²  are in the right; until I die, I will not set aside my integrity!

In a moment they die, in the middle of the night, ¹  people ²  are shaken ³  and they pass away. The mighty are removed effortlessly. ⁴ 

Surely ¹  one sees ²  that even wise people die; ³  fools and spiritually insensitive people all pass away ⁴  and leave their wealth to others. ⁵ 

When you ignore them, they panic. ¹  When you take away their life’s breath, they die and return to dust.

A time to be born, ¹  and a time to die; ²  a time to plant, and a time to uproot what was planted;

For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything; they have no further reward – and even the memory of them disappears. ¹ 

But look, there is outright celebration! ¹  You say, “Kill the ox and slaughter the sheep, eat meat and drink wine. Eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!” ² 

They hatch the eggs of a poisonous snake and spin a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die, a poisonous snake is hatched. ¹ 

For he will die in the country where they took him as a captive. He will never see this land again.” ¹ 

Rather, each person will die for his own sins. The teeth of the person who eats the sour grapes will themselves grow numb. ¹ 

However, listen to what I, the Lord, promise you, King Zedekiah of Judah. I, the Lord, promise that ¹  you will not die in battle or be executed. ² 

Then Zedekiah told Jeremiah, “Do not let anyone know about the conversation we have had. ¹  If you do, you will die. ² 

If they do this, tell ¹  them, ‘I was pleading with the king not to send me back to die in the dungeon of Jonathan’s house.’” ² 

So now be very sure of this: You will die from war, starvation, or disease in the place where you want to go and live.”

ט (Tet) Those who died by the sword ¹  are better off than those who die of hunger, ²  those who ³  waste away, ⁴  struck down ⁵  from lack of ⁶  food. ⁷ 

You will die by the sword; I will judge you at the border of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Indeed! All lives are mine – the life of the father as well as the life of the son is mine. The one ¹  who sins will die.

As for his father, because he practices extortion, robs his brother, and does what is not good among his people, he will die for his iniquity.

Throw away all your sins you have committed and fashion yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! ¹  Why should you die, O house of Israel?
