He said to his father and mother, “I have not seen him,” ¹  and he did not acknowledge his own brothers or know his own children, for they kept your word, and guarded your covenant.

Eleazar son of Aaron died, and they buried him in Gibeah in the hill country of Ephraim, where his son Phinehas had been assigned land. ¹ 

The men of Israel said to Gideon, “Rule over us – you, your son, and your grandson. For you have delivered us from Midian’s power.” ¹ 

So Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a container of wine, and a young goat ¹  and sent them to Saul with ²  his son David.

Jesse said to his son David, “Take your brothers this ephah of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread; go quickly ¹  to the camp to your brothers.

Then Saul told his son Jonathan and all his servants to kill David. But Saul’s son Jonathan liked David very much. ¹ 

David said to the young man ¹  who was telling him this, “How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?” ² 

But Absalom fled and went to King Talmai son of Ammihud of Geshur. And David ¹  grieved over his son every day.

Moreover, whom should I serve? Should it not be his son? Just as I served your father, so I will serve you.” ¹ 

So the victory of that day was turned to mourning as far as all the people were concerned. For the people heard on that day, “The king is grieved over his son.”

David ¹  brought the bones of Saul and of Jonathan his son from there; they also gathered up the bones of those who had been executed.

Jeroboam ruled for twenty-two years; then he passed away. ¹  His son Nadab replaced him as king.

Rehoboam passed away ¹  and was buried with his ancestors in the city of David. His mother was an Ammonite named Naamah. His son Abijah ²  replaced him as king.

Nevertheless for David’s sake the Lord his God maintained his dynasty ¹  in Jerusalem by giving him a son ²  to succeed him ³  and by protecting Jerusalem. ⁴ 

Asa passed away ¹  and was buried with his ancestors in the city of his ancestor David. His son Jehoshaphat replaced him as king.

Jehoshaphat passed away ¹  and was buried with his ancestors in the city of his ancestor ²  David. His son Jehoram replaced him as king.

Joram passed away ¹  and was buried with his ancestors in the city of David. His son Ahaziah replaced him as king.

Jehoash passed away ¹  and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. His son Jeroboam replaced him as king.)

Azariah passed away ¹  and was buried ²  with his ancestors in the city of David. His son Jotham replaced him as king.

Jotham passed away ¹  and was buried with his ancestors in the city of his ancestor David. His son Ahaz replaced him as king.
